DESCRIPTION:Parenting Cavan is offering a free Parents Plus Special Needs Programme for parents and guardians raising an older child aged 10+ or adolescent with a mild\, moderate or severe intellectual disability. \nThe programme may also be suitable where a child or adolescent has a diagnosis such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or a physical disability. \nParents Plus programmes are free to join and are developed in partnership with families and services. They are designed to support positive outcomes for families\, communities and the services that work with them. \nThe programme will support parents and guardians to help their child to: \n\nlearn social skills and build friendships\ndeal with puberty and sexuality\ngain confidence and self-esteem\nbecome more independent\n\nParents and guardians will also explore how to: \n\ncope personally and manage stress\ndeal with the challenges of adolescence\nsupport the needs of their other children\nmanage challenging behaviour\n\nPlaces are free\, but booking is required.
