DESCRIPTION:This Early Years Event\, hosted by Parenting Cavan\, is designed to support families during pregnancy and the early stages of parenting. \nGuest speaker Bróna Connolly\, Calm Night’s Sleep Consultant and Public Health Nurse\, will deliver a practical and reassuring talk on infant sleep. Parents will have the opportunity to gain helpful guidance\, ask questions\, and better understand their baby’s sleep patterns. \nFollowing the talk\, Emer Kerr will lead a gentle baby massage session\, offering parents a chance to learn simple techniques that can support bonding\, relaxation\, and wellbeing for both baby and parent. \nTea\, coffee and light refreshments will be available on arrival\, creating space for connection and informal conversation. \nLocal services and organisations are also invited to attend with an information stand. Set-up will begin from 9.30am. Please contact the organiser directly if your service would like to be involved. \nThis event is supported by Parenting Cavan in partnership with local family support services\, as outlined in the event poster.

SUMMARY:Supporting Adolescents Through Grief and Loss
DESCRIPTION:Irish Hospice Foundation is hosting this online bereavement and loss workshop on Thursday 26 March 2026. \nThis full-day session will explore the factors that can influence an adolescent while grieving. It will look at how bereavement and loss can affect a young person’s sense of self\, relationships and view of life\, and will consider the different ways adolescents may respond to loss. \nThe workshop will examine: \n\n\nthe factors that influence how adolescents grieve \n\n\nthe impact of different types of loss on adolescents \n\n\napproaches that may help adolescents engage with and process grief \n\n\nprogrammes and interventions that may be useful when supporting bereaved adolescents \n\n\nThe session combines theory with experiential work and will also allow space for discussion about the challenges that can arise when supporting adolescents through grief. \nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\n\ndiscuss how adolescents are impacted by bereavement in their ongoing lives \n\n\nidentify a range of bereavement-focused strategies for working with this age group \n\n\ndiscuss social change and its impact on bereaved adolescents \n\n\nBrid Carroll comes from an educational background and is a qualified Psychotherapist and Counselling Supervisor with a special interest in bereavement and loss. She holds a Masters in Bereavement Studies from RCSI Dublin and a Postgraduate Certificate in Childhood Bereavement from St. Christopher’s Hospice\, London. \nBrid works with families and children experiencing loss through bereavement\, illness and separation. She contributes to the Irish Hospice Foundation’s workshop series and Professional Certificate in Children and Loss. She is Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Irish Childhood Bereavement Network and a member of the Steering Committee of the Family Bereavement Network of Europe. \nIrish Hospice Foundation’s annual online workshop series is aimed at professionals and volunteers who want to build their understanding of bereavement and loss\, including those supporting people who have experienced a death or other significant loss.
