SUMMARY:World Suicide Prevention Day 2025: Changing the Narrative on Suicide
DESCRIPTION:Suicide is a serious global public health issue\, with more than 700\,000 lives lost each year. Its impact reaches far beyond individuals\, affecting families\, communities\, and societies. Stigma remains one of the biggest barriers to recovery and support. \nThis year’s theme\, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”\, calls on individuals\, communities\, organisations\, and governments to foster open\, compassionate dialogue. By talking honestly about suicide and sharing supportive messages\, we can break down barriers\, reduce stigma\, and create a culture of understanding. \nThe HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) has identified five key messages to guide this year’s awareness campaign: \n\n\nReach Out and Check In \n\n\nYour Words Matter \n\n\nBe Safe Online \n\n\nLet’s Talk About Suicide \n\n\nKnow Where to Get Help \n\n\nInternational Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) in partnership with HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP). \n\n\nIASP: www.iasp.info/wspd \n\n\nNOSP / Your Mental Health: www.yourmentalhealth.ie | Freephone 1800 111 888 \n\n\nSocial media pack and resources are available here: WSPD 2025 Campaign Pack (IASP)
